![]() The current stable release is Lightworks 14.5, which was first released back in 2018. The '+' key toggles between the current zoom factor of the timeline and fully zoomed out.An all-new beta release of the Lightworks video editor is available for testing - and it premieres some hot new features! If you wish learning Lightworks, try to make a rough cut based on this information and the information you collected from the video about trimming and when finished, tell how it worked.Įdit: Forgot to mention: Ctrl+mouse-wheel is a fast way to zoom-in/out, not only the timeline. All editing command and even drag and drop work in conjunction with marked sections and, to mark a section you need only one mark, the second mark is the playhead, no matter if it's left or right of the mark. If you need a sequence as source, drag it to the source viewer. A double click on a clip in the content manager opens it in the source viewer, a double click on a sequence opens it as current sequence. All controls on the viewers do have shortcuts. If you wish learning Lightworks from scratch, my suggestion is start with a rough cut and the basic operations which are available as symbols on the both viewers: The transport controls, the four editing commands (Insert, Replace, Delete, Remove), and the commands to set marks and to remove them. If what you are looking for is finishing your current project as fast as you can, you should stay with the tool you know best. It's designed for having the eyes on the frame and not the timeline, with a controller or a keyboard in the left hand and a mouse in the right (or vice versa for left handed people). The beauty of Lightworks is simplicity of editing. Usually, people who have trained their muscle memory with certain software don't switch unforced to other software, unless they love learning new software. It's perfectly valid to assign combinations of keys such as V1 to select video track 1 if you wish, for example. The combinations that you use can be pretty much any key or key combination that you wish. Those can also be assigned to keys and key combinations. You can also create your own macros to duplicate functionality that you may be more used to. Just be warned though: if you just wade in and change everything you risk making any tutorials you access or help you ask for here less comprehensible. Select the command that you're interested in and either assign a key to it and/or remove the key that's assigned. From there you can also customise the keyboard shortcuts any way that you like. There's a lot more in the key assignments. It would be wisest to choose "Commands assigned to keys" first to get familiar with what's already there. At the top right click on the three vertical dots and select "Create HTML report". When you launch Lightworks click on system settings at the top right of the entry screen and select key assignments. Thanks to anyone who has made it this far in this TLDR post, I look forward to working in this software and just want to get past some of the hiccups I've been struggling with.įirst, you can make an HTML report of keyboard assignments which can be viewed in your browser of choice.
